Anti-Static Service

Static electricity is generated by two non-metallic surfaces rubbing together. Common sources are clothing, carpets, plastic-surfaced desks, plastic coffee cups and painted surfaces.

Humans can feel static at about 2,000 volts. You can hear a static discharge at about 3,000 volts and a static spark can be seen when around 5,000 volts has been generated.

There are two main reasons for eliminating static:

1. To avoid blowing chips on a printed circuit board.
2. To avoid the unpleasant personal shock when static passes through the body to earth

In certain areas, especially in Data Rooms, it is important for the carpet tiles to have an anti-static finish. We apply an even, fine spray to the surface, taking care to ensure the spray does not enter air vents, voids or machinery.
