Retail

Retailers of all kinds, from major supermarkets and department stores to smaller outlets, spend large amounts of money on their interior design, fixtures, fittings and lighting to create the right sales atmosphere.

Check-outs, therefore, need regular attention to ensure they reflect a clean image, especially as customers often have to queue to pay and have time to observe dirty IT equipment. Clean monitors, scanners, cash drawers, chip and pin units, card swipes, printers and keyboards work quicker too and speed customer throughput. The answer is to give them a Techclean service with all the exterior and customer-visible surfaces returned to virtually brand new condition.

We will clean the monitor, scanners, cash drawer, chip and pin unit, card swipe, printer, processor box and keyboard.

Anti-Static Service

Static electricity is generated by two non-metallic surfaces rubbing together. Common sources are clothing, carpets, plastic-surfaced desks, plastic coffee cups and painted surfaces.

Humans can feel static at about 2,000 volts. You can hear a static discharge at about 3,000 volts and a static spark can be seen when around 5,000 volts has been generated.

There are two main reasons for eliminating static:

  1. To avoid blowing chips on a printed circuit board.
  2. To avoid the unpleasant personal shock when static passes through the body to earth

In certain areas, especially in Data Rooms, it is important for the carpet tiles to have an anti-static finish. We apply an even, fine spray to the surface, taking care to ensure the spray does not enter air vents, voids or machinery.

Asset Registration

It is surprising that few companies hold accurate records of their IT assets.

In conjunction with any other service or as a stand alone project, we can draw up a complete register of all your IT equipment. Having branches throughout the UK, this work can be undertaken on a nationwide basis and provide:

    1. Manufacturer and model number
    2. Machine serial number
    3. Internal recognition number or label
    4. Physical position of unit
    5. Current user of equipment

This gives you the benefit of knowing what equipment you have...and where it is.

Flu Pandemic - How prepared are you?

The spread of Super Bugs such as Flu virus A, MRSA and other pathogens continue to receive regular national press coverage with government health agencies estimating that potentially 1 in 3 of the population will catch the current flu virus this year.

Should this materialise this will potentially present a major risk to you, your staff and your business.

Controlling the spread of cross contamination in your workplace will form an important foundation of any Business Continuity plan, and we are able to offer you helpful and straightforward advice on how to prepare, plan and manage an outbreak.

We have recently been working with a number of our clients on their Business Continuity Management (BCM) plans in preparation for the predicted Influenza Pandemic. We use BCM as robust, structured process which is designed to help you identify those parts of your business that you can’t afford to lose should an incident occur. Our key piece of advice is plan now, rather than wait for the incident to happen, as delays could result in you losing valuable business to your competitors or your existing customers losing confidence in you.

To implement a BCM you’ll need to consider the following;

  • What are your key products and services?
  • What are the critical activities and resources needed to deliver these?
  • What are the risks to these critical activities?
  • How will you maintain these in the event of an incident?
NOTE - There is an excellent downloadable document called the Business Continuity Management Toolkit published by H M Government specifically to help businesses prepare for an emergency.    The link is below.
