Flu Pandemic - How prepared are you?
The spread of Super Bugs such as Flu virus A, MRSA and other pathogens continue to receive regular national press coverage with government health agencies estimating that potentially 1 in 3 of the population will catch the current flu virus this year.
Should this materialise this will potentially present a major risk to you, your staff and your business.
Controlling the spread of cross contamination in your workplace will form an important foundation of any Business Continuity plan, and we are able to offer you helpful and straightforward advice on how to prepare, plan and manage an outbreak.
We have recently been working with a number of our clients on their Business Continuity Management (BCM) plans in preparation for the predicted Influenza Pandemic. We use BCM as robust, structured process which is designed to help you identify those parts of your business that you can’t afford to lose should an incident occur. Our key piece of advice is plan now, rather than wait for the incident to happen, as delays could result in you losing valuable business to your competitors or your existing customers losing confidence in you.
To implement a BCM you’ll need to consider the following;
- What are your key products and services?
- What are the critical activities and resources needed to deliver these?
- What are the risks to these critical activities?
- How will you maintain these in the event of an incident?
NOTE - There is an excellent downloadable document called the Business Continuity Management Toolkit published by H M Government specifically to help businesses prepare for an emergency. The link is below.
